David Bridal has one thing going for them price. To me it was like shopping for my wedding dress at Wal-Mart. You get good prices but there is little to no customer service!!!!! Don't get my wrong, I love Wal-Mart however I think when it comes to one of the most important days of your live you should expect a little "pampering" and good customer service. I ended up finding a beautiful dress at a local bridal store at a price I wanted to pay and the best part, this store actually had good customer service.

I really love my dress i bought from Davids Bridal and love my bridesmaid dresses, but my experience with DB has not been very good at all. Their selection is good, and the prices are perfect for Brides like me that can't justify spending a small fortune on a dress i will wear once ever, but that is the only good thing about DB.

Ive been to DB quite a few times and EVERYTIME i have the same mediocre to poor experience with the employees. First of all, each consultant is given WAY too many different groups to work with at one time. The last time i went the girl assigned to my group was working with atleast 4- 5 other customers/groups. I had 3 bridesmaids with me, i knew the EXACT dress they were going to try on, they just needed to be sized and order it. It litterally took 1 1/2- 2 hours because the consultant kept disapearing to work with other people. The consultant was incredibly pushy about the sizes and kept trying to convince everyone that they needed a size bigger than the dresses that fit perfect and they felt comfortable in. They obviously want you to purchase the bigger size in hopes you will do your alterations with them. My girls ordered the dresses in the sizes they wanted eventually and not the sized that was being pushed by the consultant. (i had a similar experience when i bought my dress, i wanted one size and the consultant kept pushing the bigger size that would need altering) At the end of the appointment, the consultant explained payment options and their financing but left out wether the dresses were paid for when you pick them up or when you order them. She just explained the financing plan again, but didnt anwser the question. After asking again 4 times she finally told them payment was due in full when you order them.

Finally tonight i brought my dress to my appointment to get the bustle done because i was told by a friend it wasnt that expensive. This is the only alteration that i needed and the only alteration for anyone in my wedding party that was being done through DB. The seamstress was completely unfriendly, hardly said anything to me and just started sticking pins in the dress. She didnt give me any options, just pinned it the way that she wanted to and acted angry when i asked what the other options were. She didnt explain the different types of bustles, how much they costed or anything. It was almost 100 dollars. She also kept disappearing and didnt tell me what to do with my dress after it was pinned and i took it off. when i found her to asked, she ignored me and finally said she would come out and talk to me when she finished what she was working on. I was appauled by her and honestly left the store with regret and discomfort about trusting this person to work on my dress. 100 dollars for a few loops and a string... i dont even want to imagine what the cost would be if i needed actual alterations!!

If your looking for personal attention and caring people. Davids Bridal is NOT the place to go.

While visiting David's Bridal in the Toledo area my friend's car was broken in to, her purse, gps, and camera were stolen. When she returned to store to contact the police THREE DIFFERENT WORKERS ignored her request for a telephone book. The first worker merely walked away, the second ignored her to help another customer, the second picked up the phone and proceeded to make a sales call. It was not until a fourth worker asked my friend why she was upset that the police were called so a report could be filed and my friend was given directions to the police station.
It would have taken the first attendant all of thirty seconds to find a local phone book, but she could not be bothered. I will certainly never shop at David's Bridal ANYWHERE if this is how they are trained to treat people. And I will be sure to tell this story to everyone I know (which includes a LOT of soon to be married women!)

Extremely Disappointed!!! I have been a customer of David's Bridal in Springfield, PA, ever since a bought my first prom dress. This year I purchased my wedding gown at DB, along with my bridesmaids dresses, veil, headband, slip, etc. I recently went for my first fitting and was not very impressed with the service. The woman was nice, but there was nothing spectacular being done to my dress. I had very minimal alterations that were needed. When I saw the bill for the alterations, I was totally shocked!! The bill was over $350! When we asked if there was anyway to lower the cost, we were told there was nothing anyone can do, because alterations is a separate company. We even had to pay TAX! No other seamstress or tailor charges tax in PA. Also, I had a guest book given to me as a gift that I did not need, and they wouldn't even let me return the book and put it towards the ridiculous alterations cost. After everything I bought in that store, they told me I'd have to exchange the book for more store merchandise. I would NEVER buy anything in that store again. They are a shady company that does not give a crap if you are satisfied or not. I even called back later to speak to the manager and got absolutely nowhere. She told me there was no way she could even give me a discount because they have no control over the computers. What a joke! I am going to a private professional seamstress now who is charging me way less money and will do a WAY better job on my dress! David's Bridal may be affordable for dresses, but DO NOT GET ALTERATIONS DONE!! It's such a rip off!!! And they do not care about their customers! I am a school teacher, and I work in a huge district. I can't wait to tell all of the young teachers to never go to David's Bridal! They just lost a customer and hopefully after reading this, you won't be a customer either!!

I visited the Dublin, Ohio location of David's Bridal and was to say the very least disappointed. I had an awful experience and it should have been a happy one. I live over two hours away, so I made the appointment, and a bridesmaid and I went up the night before and spent the night. I was so excited when we pulled in. The store was very busy, but they had me fill out paper work and called a sales girl over to assist me. From the very beginning the girl acted like she didn't want to be there and it was a bother for her to have to assist me. She didn't smile once the entire time I was there. I had brought in some pictures of my favorites from the website. She said that would help, but it didn't. She took me over to the size we thought I would need. She started looking through a few dresses and said I don't think we have any of the ones you like. She took my paper and said that she would check the computer and that I could just look and see if there was anything that I wanted to try on while she did that. While she was gone I found two of the dresses that I had on my favorites list right away. She came back and said that she had checked the computer and that they didn't have any of my favorites in that store. Shocked, I showed her that I had just found two. She didn't know what to say about that. So, we went to try the dresses on and they didn't fit my chest. I asked to have them in the next size or two up. She left and brought me back a completely different dress! (in the wrong size!). We did this no less than 7 or 8 times! She would say that she was going to look for dresses for me and leave me and my bridesmaid in the changing room, without a dress, for long periods. My bridesmaid went to find a dress for me and found the sales girl having small talk with another assosciate! When I tried to explain that I needed a larger size, she told me that I could just try on that size, it didn't need to zip, and they could order me the size that I would ne

Service was absolutely poor. I received an email saying my items were ready to be picked up at the store, but after driving 40 minutes and paying $5.00 in tolls, only the sash for my dress had arrived. The people who worked there told me I should have called to make sure the dress was really in. If I had known the email was useless in the first place I would have called. I am so sad that I have to give over one hundred dollars for a useless, ugly dress to such a terrible company.

I visited the Dublin, Ohio DB three times looking for a gown and BM dresses to receive poor customer service every time. This comment area is not big enough to post it but if you read what all had happened you'd be in shock that they are still in business.

We had a poor experience with BM dresses and my final straw was this call I had with the manager. From other reviews I've read DB is a place to avoid!

We had decided to get the BM dresses anyways but have yet to buy them because I wanted to make sure my girls had the $$.
Then the final straw. I got an email from DB about a promotion where you get a gift card if your BM buys their dresses by a certain date. So I called to see if it was one of those deals where I had to buy my gown from them as well. Nice girl on the phone answered said she wasn't sure and was going to check. ONE HALF HOUR LATER no one had came back on the line, so I hung up and asked for the manager.
She picked up, and I calmly told her that it bothered me that I was on hold for so long, to which I got an I'm sorry. So I asked her the question which I received the answer from her immediately. I inquired on why the time difference on her answer and well the half hour wait. Again she said she was sorry and that they are busy people. At this point she wanted off the phone and tried to end the conversation. I informed her that I just don't understand why I've received these poor levels of customer service every time I've been there and explained my situations from above to her. She said she was sorry more. At this point I’m annoyed b/c she keeps throwing in my face that they're busy people and she didn't think I understand what it's like to be in retail....I've worked it for over 5 years. I told her I just didn't get how she had no solution, just an apology. She informed me that "I've told you I'm sorry 4 times, what else do you want from me?" Shocked I replied some type of solution. SHE INFORMED ME THAT WHEN SHE HEARS A CUSTOMER HAS HAD BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE 3 TIMES IT IS NOT HER EMPLOYEES FAULT BUT RATHER A CUSTOMER WHO HAS A PROBLEM! I told her I didn't know that expecting a high level of customer service especially in this economy was the problem. I told her I wouldn't be back, and she said that was fine with her.
But with this economy and the fact that I was going to spend $$$$$ with them, I expect a high level of customer service from every associate. I will never buy a thing from DB

    PROS CONS
  • a decent selection
  • high turnover rate on employees, rude, unknowledgeable, disinterested, prices are way too high, especially when you have to pay for alterations (always exceed 80 dollars)

  • OVERALL COMMENTS
After filling out paperwork and talking to a generally unpleasant and unknowledgeable girl, she took my selections to a dressing room. I tried on the dresses, without much enthusiasm or input from the girl. My biggest surprise was when I selected a dress with a corset top and she only laced it part of the way up, excusing it by saying “it would just take too long”. As this was my first time ever trying on dresses, I figured this was standard practice. The location I purchased my wedding dress from took the time to completely lace me up and tell me what their opinion was of every dress.
I came back in, asked for the girl I had last time, and was told she no longer worked there, and they lost my paperwork I had to go through all the paperwork again and there was no record of me being there.
Third trip, paperwork lost, along with the notes of the dresses I liked on the previous visit. I will say I liked the girl I got that time Although when I went back in for my fourth visit, she was gone.

I had called ahead on a Saturday and was told that I would have a woman set aside to work with me. That didn’t happen. I understand Saturday’s approaching prom season will be hectic, but I should not have been told I would receive personal attention if it wasn’t realistic.

A couple of weeks later my bridesmaid in California called to tell me they ordered her dress in the wrong color. This encouraged me to go confirm my other bridesmaid dresses. I came in to the Chattanooga store around 6:00 and spoke to one of the managers who looked up my order. I will note that although the problem did not occur in her store, an apology at this stage would have been nice. I would have done a lot to cool me down for the last few visits. I did not have all the information she needed at that time to track down the problem. I returned the following day with the information she needed, and asked about the status of the dresses I ordered in that store, and when they should be in. It was at this time that she went to the back and produced my two bridesmaid dresses that had been ordered. I asked her how long they had been there, she told me ten days. When I asked why I wasn’t informed she told me they had typed the email address in wrong. I asked why I wasn’t informed by phone, she said “well, that girl has been really busy”. What a terrible excuse, and rude.

Last visit I came in to pick out a flower girl dress. Again a different girl, after looking around I set aside two flower girl dresses, one was paid for, the other was being held for one day for my other flower girl to come try on. When her father came in to have her try it on, they at first could not find any record of the dresses in the system. So while one girl fumbles her way through the computer system, another woman comes up to help. They inform him that the dress I want is not in stock in her size, but a similar dress is in that she could try on.
I returned that night; spoke to the manager who informed me that the dress was indeed on hold, in the size and color I wanted. For whatever reason, the women he spoke to two hours earlier didn’t know where the hold shelf was. As well at this time I wanted to confirm they still had the dress I had purchased and was waiting on alterations. At this time she tells me she can’t find any record of the dress being purchased. Eventually she did find it in the back, again, no apology.
The location in Georgia on Barrett Parkway, allowed my final bridesmaid to order in a dress in a size 2 after she told them she was a size 0. They even saw her in it, knowing it was huge, without letting her know alterations would exceed the price of the dress. Or communicating that we were about to pay 180 dollars for alterations on a 120 dress. They should have suggested another opportunity. They have communicated well on when the dress arrived, but to not even give a heads up on the astronomical price, is deceiving and makes me wary about future purchases.

I bought my dress in January in a SZ 10 Petite. I am more of an 8 Petite, so I thought I'd exchange the 10 for an 8...yeah right! Everything was fine till I looked at the back of the dress and saw a yellowed "ring" from one armpit to the other. When I showed it to the manager and asked if a clean one could be ordered for me, she said sure just tell the girl up front. I did just that, then the girl said I don't see any yellow, where is it? Long story short, I made her get it cleaned immediately. When I saw the "cleaned" version that was now wet and yellow. I said I would take my chances with this dress, amd I canceled my alteration appt!

This is for the Alexandria, LA location. All sales reps lied to me, each with their own story - no one could get it straight. They told me they would hold my wedding dress until I was ready then told me I had to take it with me. They told me they don't come out with new colors every seasn, even though they had JUST come out with fall colors. Several different people told me several different answers as to when the colors might come out before I was told that they don't ever change colors (which IS an outright lie, seeing as the color I had initially chosen was discontinued). They were rude and stuck up and I had a horrible experience. If I could return the dress, I would do it in a heartbeat. To add insult to injury, when they made me go home with my dress eight months before my wedding, they charged me extra for a garment bag! They only put it in a flimsy plastic bag and you have to PAY EXTRA to protect your OFF THE RACK dress that is already damaged from being tried on so many times by different people. I am livid and have filed a complaint with the BBB. If you just have to shop at DB in Louisiana, go to the one in Lafayette. They are friendly and knowledgable. I have done business with that branch in the past which is why I chose to go to DB again (I live closer to Alexandria). PLEASE BEWARE!

  • The customer service was very poor. Our sales associate, Patty tried to tell the bride what she could and could not try on. She left out valuable information on alterations and refused to give them for a dress purchased over a year ago, however she knew the date of the wedding at the time of purchase. She did not put the veil in the bag and by the time the bride had a dress rehearsal, the veil was discontinued. The manager sold the mother of the bride a veil that she said was almost identical and ended up not looking anything like the original veil. My bridesmaides dress was sold to me with a tare in it. Another bridesmaid ordered a dress months ago and when it finnally came in, it was the wrong size making it too late to buy another dress. Another bridesmaid ordered her dress and Patty to her that it would be shipped to her on a date post wedding after she had again been informed of the wedding date. The tuxedo store next door has heard so many complaints that they have disassociated themselves with davids bridal. This is in the Greenville NC store.

I felt rushed every time I was in the store to hurry up and make a decision. Alterations staff is horrible. My 8 year old daughter had to get an adult size dress and I constantly expressed my concerns on the size of the dress afraid that it would not fit. We reordered the dress 3 times. My concerns were not validated at all. The alterations lady poked my daughter in the stomach and said "don't eat so many french fries." I was disgusted. Not every one is small. I made this known to the manager and things were taken care of but I am not using their alterations for any of our dresses. For the amount of money spent no one should belittle anyone. Will never recommend.

I had a great experience with David's until my alterations...I arrive to find my dress not ready and then found a pin in my dress the night of the wedding (ouch!). Overall though I'd do it again because I loved my dressed and it was so reasonably priced for something you wear only once. I would recommend David's for the dress but do your alterations elsewhere. FYI I went to the Natick store.

I went into David's Bridal knowing exactly what I wanted so my overall experience was ok and I did love my gown. I didn't have to deal with the pushy salespeople because they carried what I was looking for and my decision was pretty easy. However, I wasted alot of time and patience (of which a bride typically doesn't have much) on alterations.

  • Service was terrible
  • Alterations were pricey

I felt like I was invisible when I walked in there. You shouldn't have to look for a salesperson-especially if you're a bride. The alteration situation was awful. They were rude-the dressing rooms had very little privacy and the alterations were pricey.

    Would recommend David's Bridal: No

    PROS CONS
  • - Affordable dresses
  • - Many locations so dresses can be purchased across the country
  • - Poor Customer Service
  • - Don't order own dress - give the one off the rack

I wouldn't recommend David's Bridal. My dress was beautiful and affordable and I did love it. However, once I bought my dress, the customer service was horrible! They didn't care about me (and they should, I am the bride). They even lost my dress once but they did find it. It's too bad the service is so bad because their dresses are pretty.

If you can avoid using them, that would be advised. I had no choice really since my bridesmaids were all over the country, so I had to use a chain. If you want special treatment (which every bride should get), don't bother going to David's. They won't help you to figure out what looks good on you, they'll just bring you the dresses you pick out - regardless of how they look. And the reason the prices are low, is because they get you on the cost of alterations. I went in one day to ask for a color swatch of my bridesmaids dresses - the 17 year old working at the desk said "we don't have that - but maybe you can buy a shoe ribbon of a similar color." That shocked me - it's the only time I've ever heard of a bridal store not having a color sample for the bride to use in almost everything she is planning. Not to mention, with the amount of money being spent there by me, I shouldn't have to BUY a shoe ribbon - which didn't even match my color!

    Would recommend David's Bridal: Yes

    PROS CONS
  • Fast delivery of products. They are located across the US. They have a wide selection of dresses at great prices.
  • Very forward sales persons. It can be overwhelmingly busy and it is such a large store. I would not use them for alterations.

I chose David's for my bridesmaid's dresses. Their locations provided all of my girls with a chance to go try them on. Their prices are reasonable, and the quality of the dresses is great. I have a friend working at one of the stores, and without her help, I do admit, the other sales people were very pushy and businesslike.

I would not recommend David's Bridal to a bride trying to find the perfect wedding dress for their special day. The service was horrible, and they did not have the greatest selection. David's Bridal is solely based on price not quality. A small boutique where they give you special attention is the way to go.
